Pfizer expects drug manufacturing at its Rocky Mount, N.C. plant to resume in the fourth quarter this year, after a tornado that inflicted heavy damage to the facility in July.
The tornado predominantly damaged the warehouse section of the plant, which is one of the largest drug manufacturing facilities in the world and makes roughly a quarter of Pfizer’s sterile injectable medicines used by U.S. hospitals.
The plant reopened in early August and workers are performing a handful of functions, the company said. Pfizer has set up a temporary warehouse to help store products.
