Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the gained 0.19%, while the index climbed 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:), which rose 2.74% or 10.20 points to trade at 383.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) added 2.46% or 19.65 points to end at 817.20 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.13% or 64.65 points to 3,098.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.30% or 12.30 points to trade at 935.80 at the close. Infosys Ltd (NS:) declined 0.98% or 13.80 points to end at 1,390.50 and NTPC Ltd (NS:) was down 0.90% or 2.15 points to 237.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.09% to 3,097.00, Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.24% to settle at 3,311.20 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.16% to close at 2,994.55.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.44% to 934.65 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.05% to settle at 236.60 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.87% to 1,392.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1152 to 920 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1924 rose and 1651 declined, while 118 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.38% to 11.04.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.34% or 6.70 to $1,966.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.92% or 0.71 to hit $76.66 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.77% or 0.63 to trade at $80.98 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 83.28, while EUR/INR fell 0.28% to 88.80.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 105.69.
